Ohr Kodesh and Camp Ramah

Greetings from Camp Ramah in Palmer, MA. For those of you who may not be aware, Camp Ramah is the Conservative movement's official camps, founded and overseen by the Jewish Theological Seminary. Ohr Kodesh has a particularly strong connection to Camp Ramah New England, with 20 - 30 members of our congregation attending each summer as campers, staff and faculty members. This year, in addition to our 22 campers, we have 3 staff members (Zoe and Dory Fox and Molly Braun), Paula Shoyer was on faculty as a specialist teaching baking, Dr. Steve Schwartz served as a camp doctor for one week, Rachel Braun participated in staff training and, for the second year in a row, I am head of the Ropes/Adventure Course staff.

In addition to these individual relationships, our Shoresh Hebrew High School program also offers all Ramah campers a discount on Shoresh tuition and the camp in turn gives a discount to Shoresh students off of their camp tuition. (This deal is available to campers at Camp Judea, Camps Airy and Louise, Capital Camps, Habonim Moshavah and Camp Judea & Tel Yehuda as well.)

In upcoming posts, I will be sharing my experiences at camp with you, along with lots of pictures of Ohr Kodesh students. I hope you will enjoy!
